Resort '17 - Meow Meow
The Bec & Bridge girl has always been a rule breaker but this season she is really pushing the boundaries. Spirited and bold, she has retained the innocence of youth. Alluring and enigmatic but seriously cheeky.
Experimenting with playful combinations of colours and textures, the collection is inspired by the work of Matisse and his innovative use of light and layering. Intense hues of Whitely blues and fiery reds are used, evoking a sense of unhinged freedom and fun. Stark whites and textural blacks sharply cut through the collection, adding a modern feel. The interplay of lines is explored through signature sexy silhouettes that are sharply spliced and asymmetrically draped on the body. Sculptural detailing features in pieces that are dramatically ruffled, tucked and layered. Delicate sheer laces are contrasted with heavy silks, whilst sultry embellished metallics skim and expose the skin beneath. Like Matisse’s experimental play on light, beading and silk that features throughout the collection, effectively catches and evokes the sensation of light and implies notions of fluidity and seductiveness.
The collection channels a 90’s look, taking the most iconic silhouettes of the decade and reworking them. The shortest of hemlines, bias cut slips, spaghetti straps, sheer fabrications with dramatic cowl necklines to reveal structured satin bras. Classic staples including washed, high-rise denim jeans put back with structured bodices and oversized silk shirts. Sharp tailoring makes a statement in the collection through a menswear inspired tuxedo, slim cigarette pants and deconstructed shirting. The Bec & Bridge girl knows how to have a good time, this season more than ever.
